Day 1 Arrival at the Kigali International Airport

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, our dedicated team of Hermosa Life Tours and Travel will be at the Kigali International Airport for the meet and greet assistance, and clear with customs. You will transfer to the Kigali hotel. You will enjoy hotel amenities, have dinner, and rest.

Day 2 Transfer to Akagera National Park – Sunset Boat Cruise

After your breakfast, you will start your journey to the Eastern part of Rwanda. Akagera National Park is Home to the Big 5- game safaris. On the way, you’ll enjoy landscapes and the hills of Rwanda, en route game drives, and views. As you drive to the lodge, you can expect to see some animals such as elephants, giraffes, lions, and buffaloes. You’ll check-in, order your lunch at the lodge, and relax a bit. In the afternoon, you’ll embark on the sunset boat cruise where you’ll be rewarded with several hippos and bird species on Lake Ihema. You’ll retire and drive back to the lodge to refresh and relax using hotel amenities. Later, you’ll have dinner and rest.

Day 3 Akagera National Park Wildlife Safaris and Transfer Back to Kigali

Akagera is also known as one of the most scenic savannahs in East Africa. After your breakfast, you’ll take your packed lunch boxes (order them). You will visit the Giraffe area in the south and the lakes road up towards Birengero. Akagera National Park is home to elephants, lions, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, antelopes and many more. You’ll have a stopover for a packed lunch at the picnic area. Then, you’ll continue with a drive straight back to Kigali city. You will arrive at the hotel, relax with dinner and rest.

Day 4 Kigali City Tour and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park – Visit Ellen campus

After your breakfast, you’ll embark on the Kigali city tour. You’ll go for a visit to the Genocide Memorial Center, then drive to Musanze. You’ll visit the multi-acre, eco-friendly facility adjacent to the Volcanoes National Park includes three main buildings — the Sandy and Harold Price Research Center, the Rob and Melani Walton Education Center, and the Cindy Broder Conservation Gallery—as well as housing for visiting students and researchers. The Ellen Campus is designed to serve as a gateway to conservation for the many stakeholders with whom we work as well as visitors from around the world, helping to create the next generation of conservationists. You’ll choose a nice restaurant for your lunch in Musanze. Then, you will drive to the lodge with check-in and relaxation. You’ll enjoy property amenities and the evening at leisure.

Day 5 Cultural Experiences + Transfer to Lake Kivu with a Night Fishing Experience

After your breakfast, you will proceed to check out and then go for cultural experiences at the Gorilla Guardians’ former I’byiwacu Cultural Village. This place is fun with lots of Rwandan history and ancient stories. Feel free to take part in their traditional dance. You’ll proceed with a transfer to Lake Kivu Rubavu side. You’ll arrive at the hotel with full relaxation at the beach shores for the whole afternoon. Later, you will head out for the night fishing experiences. Join the singing traditional fishermen of Lake Kivu at night on the lake as they fish for samba the famous small fish of Lake Kivu. This tour is as real as it gets with amazing scenery.

Later, you’ll have dinner and rest.

Day 6 Lake Kivu Boat Cruise and Transfer to Kigali + Departure

After an early breakfast, you’ll venture out to Kinigi, at the foothills of the Virungas, in Parc National des Volcans where you’ll begin your trek. Your guide and tracker will lead you deep into the forest in search of your allocated gorilla family. Your trek could last from 30 minutes to eight hours depending on the exact location of the specific gorilla family which you’re tracking.

When you meet the gorillas you’ll have the chance to spend up to one magical hour quietly observing them. The gorillas are likely to be just a few meters away from you and they will continue to go about their daily lives, feeding and interacting with each other, under the watchful gaze of the silverback.

Late in the afternoon, you’ll be transferred back to your accommodation where you can spend the evening reflecting on your incredible encounter with the wild mountain gorillas of Rwanda.
